For Christmas, I told my husband that all I wanted was 3 days in the house by MYSELF to put things away, organize, and decorate. No baby, no dog, and no hubby.. Just me, myself and I. He works 7 days on and gets 7 days off, so the last 3 days of those 7 days off he took the dog and the baby and went to stay at my dads. Right now I'm on day 2 of being lonesome..
I figured I'd better sit down and write a post before the day was done!
Since I've been decorating, I've been using Pinterest a lot. One thing that I found that I absolutely LOVE is floating shelves. I mean, who doesn't like shelves that look like they're floating on air?! I was at Wal-Mart the other day and I was leaving I passed Home Depot and decided to stop in to get some boards to make them. My husband stained the wood before he left and I put them up! I got a piece of pine 2"x8"x12' and had the guy at Home Depot cut it into 4 equal sections, each 3ft long. Putting them up was easy! I used the Kreg Jig that my husband had in the garage and put up 2 in my bedroom, and 2 in my bathroom.
(They're not decorated yet, but I'm getting there!)
Also, don't mind the boxes and random stuff thrown on them! I'm still in unpacking and organizing mode!
I'm so excited about them and to finish decorating my bedroom to the dream room I've always wanted! I'll do another post once it's finished :)
These shelves cost me less than $3 a piece! I found the tutorial here and it's the easiest way I've found to make them. Let me see your floating shelves and how you made them :)
